Subiaco Wave Park
Subiaco Wave Park | Subiaco
The inevitable closure of Domain stadium coupled with the closure of both Pavilion and Station Street markets presents residents and local council of Subiaco with a significant set of economic, cultural and identity challenges.
The consequences of decisions we make today are significant in shaping our future, this is a once in a 100 year opportunity. MJA studio acknowledges that a business-as-usual approach to the future use of this site will not do it justice. As proud local residents we believe in our collective ability to construct dynamic community space through innovative solutions, reigniting Subiaco’s identity as a premier Western Australian destination.
Our vision is to create an inclusive urban landmark where residents and guests experience life changing moments, have clean fun, get fit and feel connected through a shared passion of respect for each other and the planet.
For the centre piece of our proposal MJA have partnered with Wave Park Group on a mission to build and operate a world class surf park in Western Australia. Subi Surf Park will deliver the highest quality man made waves on the planet, and the most authentic surfing experience for new and existing surfers of all ages, experience and ability. Surrounding Australia’s first Wave Garden is a diverse mixed use program accommodating a dedicated market hall and plaza,WA Football Hall of Fame, hospitality and wellness venues, up to 200 dual-aspect apartments, and a new elevated parkland which will afford extensive views over Subiaco, Kings Park and the Perth city.
Considering the rapid development of urban villages in the Perth metro area, we believe that a truly world-class idea is required to return Subiaco to its historic status as the premier West Australian cultural haven.
